Mod: Fisherman's Dream. New fish, treasures and recipes

Fishing in the classic version of Minecraft isn't much fun: you have to spend too much time sitting at the water's edge, and sometimes you can't even feed three or four friends with the catch harvested in a few virtual hours. The possible trophies - puffer fish, salmon, cod - aren't very impressive either: only 3-4 types of fish and no variety!

The situation is enlivened only by the treasures caught - the same enchanted book periodically hides unusual amulets, and the nautilus shell is useful for making a sea guide.

Is it really a breath of fresh air? Not really. Not even half an hour goes by, and fishing becomes boring again. That's why it's time to take advantage of the "Fisherman's Dream. New Fish, Treasures and Recipes" mod-pack, which unlocks new content and gives you the opportunity to transform yourself into a true adventurer.

New catches

The modification includes over 35 new inhabitants of the virtual seas and oceans (not counting fish already available in Minecraft, such as cod and salmon): the collection includes freshwater perch, turtles, eels and frogs.

And every possible trophy has its own behavior and preferred habitats. As a result, the chances of catching a curiosity depend on the bank from which the fishing rod was cast.

The exact catch probability is as follows:

  • Freshwater (excluding oceans): 45% perch and crappie, 25% smallmouth bass, kumja and carp, 13% river fish and pike, 2% catfish.
  • Bodies of water near deserts, savannahs and moors: 45% synodonts, 25% bolti, 13% bayad, 2% skippers.
  • Cold oceans: 45% Atlantic herring, 25% blackfish/hake/pink salmon/rainbow trout, 13% Pacific cod and halibut, 2% Atlantic halibut.
  • All oceans/deepwaters : 25% squid, jellyfish, red sea bass, 13% swordfish, shark, 2% whale.
  • Giant rivers/lakes: 45% piranha, 25% brown pacus and electric eel, 13% arapaima and Arrau's turtle, 2% starry turtle.
  • Wetlands: 13% box turtles.
  • Rivers/lakes on mushroom islands: 13% brown/red mushrooms.

The developers of the modification suggest using caught fish immediately for crafting - the same mushrooms or bags with ink.

Some trophies are also baked in the oven (or over the fire): fried jellyfish are inedible, but easily turn into a ball of slime.

Inventory overflowing with useless fish? No problem: no one's stopping you from mixing tails and gills with useless dyes to make a poison potion.

And if you add a leech (which has a 13% chance of being found in the brackish waters of warm biomes) to an alchemical vial, you'll immediately have healing potions in your inventory with instant life-restoring effects.

And it's best to experiment a little more: mixing half your catch with water can unlock some very unusual items.

Tasty snacks

Almost any catch from the modification is easily "converted" into unusual dishes that add variety to the local cuisine.

Fish fillet

Thinly sliced fish fillets fill one and a half hearts on the hunger scale and can be made from any fish. The number of pieces added to the inventory depends on the size of each carcass caught. Small fish are cut into 1 or 2 fillets, while large fish are cut into 7 to 14 fillets.

Frog legs

This unusual, if scarce, delicacy is reminiscent of the swampy atmosphere, but it crunches appetizingly under the tooth and restores a heart and a half to hunger.

Frogs' legs are "made" directly in the inventory without any additional equipment - neither knife nor fryer will be needed.

Seaweed

Seaweed and other underwater plants are quite edible and even satisfy hunger, but in modification, they are much more actively used in the preparation of side dishes.

Sushi

A delicacy straight from Japan: it'll easily fill the stomach of a real fisherman, and is perfect for a leisurely stroll along the banks of a virtual river or a sea of pixels.

Turtle soup

An overseas dish cooked in a turtle shell. Cruel, but appetizing, and even beginners will have no trouble making it: simply catch a turtle, then prepare a bowl and a bucket of water.

Whale steak

A huge piece of pink meat that instantly re-inflates 5 hearts on the hunger scale. It's hard to carve up such an impressive carcass, so you can't do without a sharp knife.

Whale burger

A juicy burger with a whale meat patty. It provides lasting relief from hunger and, in rare cases, has positive effects.

Fish carving knife

A special carving knife that can easily cut through the belly of any fish. It's not suitable for fighting mobs, but can be used for all kitchen tasks.

Unnecessary waste

Not all modified fishing yields a few trophies: sometimes the float hangs aimlessly above the water's surface for hours on end, and sometimes the hook gets caught on useless garbage that has accumulated on the seabed.

Driftwood

A piece of wood that has been lying in the mud and seaweed for centuries. It's practically useless, but if you haven't come across even a few trees on your adventures, it can easily be turned into wood for making equipment and tools.

Tin cans

The cause of ocean pollution and, coincidentally, the source of iron lumps melted in an oven.

Fish bones

Inedible bones nibbled by piranhas and other sea creatures. They are often caught on a hook and turned into bone meal if desired.

Jewels

There are real underwater objects too: for example, a goldfish that can be hung on the wall (in a frame!) or transformed into an unusual treat that quickly restores strength.

And also - a bottle with a message, hiding a joke or even a mystical message, and sometimes a map with the coordinates of an interesting place nearby.

Treasures

After recent updates, the modification also supports the gacha system, i.e. chests/boxes containing random rewards. The mechanic is not new, but it can be very intriguing.

Crate

A standard container holding both waste (cobblestones, soil, seeds) and useful items such as armor, feathers and gunpowder.

Locked chest

A slightly rarer trophy, hiding gunpowder, radstone and even a compass.

Jewel chest

A real pirate's treasure chest with diamonds, gold and emeralds inside. Grabbing such a valuable trophy is a real challenge, but why not give it a try?

Neptune's relics

The mod-pack adds a new material - neptunium - to the sandbox: turquoise ingots will be useful for crafting equipment and increase the chances of unlocking unusual equipment.

Ingots are hard to come by: virtual fishermen wait a long time with fishing rods on the shores of virtual beaches. But maybe the notes in the bottles will point you in the right direction? Or is it better not to attempt the spell and leave the forced locations? The developers recommend understanding these details through your own experience - by constantly experimenting and even roaming the world in search of treasure.

New armor

The Neptunium armor set is composed of 4 parts, as expected. On top is the "Neptunium Helmet", which adds 1.5 units of defense with a resistance of 850 (similar to diamond and nerite equipment) and adds the ability to see underwater.

Chest protection is provided entirely by the neptunium breastplate, which adds 4 units of defense (resistance 1200) and the ability to breathe underwater without time limit.

The legs will be protected by "Neptunium Sheaths", with 3 units of armor (resistance - 1125) and a weightlessness effect that activates underwater.

The final piece of armor is the "Neptunium Boot", which increases protection by 1.5 units (resistance - 975) and increases movement speed in any body of water.

In addition to underwater effects, the set also protects against splashing and loss of balance in combat.

New weapons

Battles will also become easier thanks to some unusual weapons, collected from the same neptunium.

For example, the sword will increase underwater damage, and at the same time add the ability to deal with skeletons, zombies and spiders even faster (base damage - 10 units, durability - 2500).

The axe, in addition to the 15 attack, increases extraction speed and adds a bonus in the form of increased damage in all bodies of water (and sometimes even on shore).

The neptunium pickaxe is comparable to the neserite pickaxe, with the same extraction speed, damage and durability, but with no more underwater penalties.

The neptunium shovel inflicts 8.5 points of damage, is more effective at depth and slowly loses durability.

The neptunium hoe is indestructible - a real boon for those who constantly sow virtual fields, and for those who periodically hunt lost enemies.

The mod-pack also includes a knife for cutting neptunium fish (4 damage, always adds an extra net to your inventory) and a fishing rod.

Perhaps the rarest, the most durable and the most indispensable - with the help of such a precious item, even beginners will have a chance of catching a whale.

A fishing box

The new workbench is designed to make fishing rods, floats and other accessories used by fishermen in everyday life.

The box is made from iron ingots and a workbench, and is in almost constant use. What's more, this modification will change the standard fishing rod crafting system and let you experiment with quite a few things!

New crafting recipes

Firstly, the box can be used to make fishing rods from wood, iron, gold, diamond and neptunium.

Secondly, it assembles a classic red-grey float.

The object is made from improvised materials and used directly while fishing.

Thirdly, a special fishing line is available in the mod-pack - almost invisible, but incredibly strong.

A special accessory is assembled from spider web and iron ingot.

Hooks

Hooks are an equally important part of fishing. Without pre-prepared equipment, there's no point in throwing a float in the water. If the fish bites, it won't reach the shore without extra help.

Iron

Classic hook with no special effects, assembled from pieces of iron.

Suitable for beginners and those who have no intention of tying their own fishing knot.

Double

An unusual find by local fishermen who, long ago, tied two iron hooks together.

The experiment worked: this unusual accessory is capable of pulling several fish to shore at once.

The gold

A dazzling hook made of pure gold, which increases the chances of catching a certain rarity.

The Chance of the Sea effect also applies to neighboring fishermen, but not always.

From Redstone

A rare and rather unusual hook that instantly draws fish into its own net. A few seconds and the catch is truly abundant.

The accessory is assembled directly from the radial stone.

Netherite

The rarest and most unusual hook, assembled from a golden base and a lower-world star. It has all the effects at once and greatly increases extraction speed.

Detailed list of possible trophies

New fauna will immediately fill water bodies - rivers, seas and oceans - and many biomes - including swamps and mushroom islands - will start to look very diverse and natural. Additional details

Eating fish in the mod-pack adds bone meal (rather than bones) to your inventory in some casas, and all creatures also have their own eggs for reproduction.

Fish nets/trap

Special, modified nets have appeared. For example, wooden nets, designed to "hunt" fish that are not too rare.

A basic net is assembled from a spider's web, a fishing rod and blocks of wood.

A slightly more sophisticated trap is assembled from ingots and pieces of iron and is several times more active in accomplishing its own tasks.

In particular, it catches several fish at once, including some very rare ones.

There's room in the mod-pack for a gold trap, which actively attracts sea creatures even on less sunny days.

The gold net is collected from ingots and coins and from the basic trap.

The final way to obtain a catch is to use a red stone trap. This design "works" extremely fast and instantly attracts edible trophies to land.

The trap is assembled from improvised materials and can be used in any body of water.

How nets work

Before fishing, anglers need a bait (leech, gudgeon or worm) and a pre-selected spot close to shore, of 3x3 blocks or more. Immersed in the water, the net will attract fish, then pull gaping animals into its own net.

The developers recommend repeating this scenario almost constantly, which will allow you to accumulate a large number of trophies. By the way, baits are obtained as follows:

  • Leech: caught with a 13% chance in brackish water;

  • Small fish (gudgeons): available in rivers and freshwater lakes;

  • Worms are generated in a specially prepared farm.

This farm is already assembled from wood, mud and wooden posts from the fence that has yet to be built.

After completing such an unusual construction for the sandbox, anglers will have an unlimited source of bait.
